Or reggaeton reggaeton is a very light, free, raggamuffin particular variant, which in turn descended from reggae, hip-hop addition. The particularities of reggaeton, a native and Puerto Rico, are the letters in the local dialects of Spanish and their influence in other Latin Styles such as bomba and salsa.

Reggaeton is closely associated with "underground" movement of urban youth and is sometimes know in spanish as "perreo", a term that refers to the most common form of dance move that evokes a sexual position. It has become popular in other caribbean islands and neighboring nations, these include the Dominican Republic, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua and parts of cuba. In recent times, has oppeared in the united States, particulary in those urban areas like New York and Miami, have large concentrations or Puerto Ricans and other Hispanics.

The great populary in Latino urban centers has prompted some to speculate that the genre will soon eclipse    salsa, merengue and other popular music in the preference of young Puerto Ricans and Hispanics. In part many be possible, due to lyrics on isues and subjects of interest to audiences: urban crime, sex and racism, topics that also became very popular hip-hop music.

- The reggaeton is a musical genre from reggae (and later the jamaican dancehall), with influences from hip-hop, wich was first developed in Panamá to mid 1980 and early 1990 in Puerto Rico.

The reggaeton roots back to the emergence of reggae in spanish in panamá at the mid - 19803, was later changed and modernized in Puerto Rico in 1990 and received its current name.

During the 80's rapper of Puerto Rico, Vico C, released albums in spanish hip-hop and rap reggae in his native island. His production helped to spread the sound of reggaeton, so much credit given to this rapper.

The lycris of reggaeton is characterized by leaning on the rhyme to make the song is catchy and easily identifiable to the public.

the themes of the typical lycris often speak of social criticism, reflection, love stories, short stories and problems of life.
